Our anti-piracy practice is backed by a team of seasoned litigators including courtroom attorneys with intellectual property litigation and criminal prosecutorial experience, with support, as needed, from private investigators with whom we have extensive experience working together in support of our clients’ objectives.
We are equally well-positioned to pursue anti-piracy actions in the U.S. and to coordinate global anti-piracy programs; as in our patent practice, we can do such work as co-counsel with overseas attorneys.
We frequently represent content owners in enforcing and policing against copyright and trademark infringement due to unauthorized redistribution in the U.S. This is a particular problem for international content creators whose materials are pirated to their expatriate communities in the U.S. For example, we have represented copyright holders of Russian TV programming in copyright infringement actions against U.S. and Canadian distributors.
Notably, we are also experienced in protecting live broadcasts of major sporting events from piracy and illegal distribution on platforms including Facebook and YouTube.
Our years of experience, including our work with private investigators, allows us to work aggressively and effectively to develop evidence of piracy, and also to help those accused of piracy defend themselves against such charges whether civilly or criminally.
